Child Protection Technical Officer

War Child (WC) is an independent and impartial international non-governmental organization investing in a peaceful future for children and young people affected by armed conflict. WCH works to enable adults and empower children and young people affected by armed conflict to bring about positive and lasting changes in their lives. Our activities seek to maximize children and young people’s participation in both project activities and broader decision affecting their lives, those who have previously been excludes from participating in such decision-making. As an organization, we are committed to promote, strengthen, and support the meaningful participation of children and young people.
Your challenge
- Assist in designing child protection capacity building plans for staff and partners
- Deliver child protection sessions, trainings and briefings, including tailored trainings where needed and feasible, to staff and partners.
- Provides ongoing and necessary technical support, guidance and advice to program staff and partners in the field of child protection, including child safety
- Delivers safeguarding briefings when needed to external visitors and new staff, in coordination with the SG focal point.
- Coordinate with other team members, mainly PSS and Education teams, to ensure that child protection connects and is mainstreamed in other WCH areas of work
- Represent WCH externally, in relevant platforms/networks focused on child protection themes, including CPiEW and PSS committee
- Contribute to the development/revision of child protection materials developed in working groups/platforms/networks
- Referral focal point : receive cases in need of CP services assess them and do the proper referrals.
Your profile
Necessary experience:
- At least one year of experience in delivering trainings;
- Psychosocial Support experience is an add value
- Able to support individual cases in need of immediate CP intervention
- Knowledge and experience working on RIMS platform
- Knowledge of current principles and practices of safeguarding- PSEA and Child Protection;
- Understanding of child rights (programming) in conflict and post conflict environments
- Strong critical analysis and strategic thinking skills;
- Planning and coordination ability;
- Monitoring and Evaluation ability;
- Ability to provide (creative/interactive) trainings;
- Excellent communication skills; ability to give and receive feedback;
- Affinity with children and young people;
- (Cultural) sensitivity;
- Result-oriented;
Require skills:
- Experience in Child Protection domain and Psychosocial Support
- Experience in working in complex contexts
- Prior experience and proven capability in training and capacity development
- Experience in conducting counseling and awareness sessions
- Fluency in English and Arabic both written and verbal
- Experience in collecting information and writing reports.
- Handling insecure environments

- Demonstrated experience in monitoring and evaluation of projects
Nice to have skills
- Art intervention skills
- Good knowledge on inclusion
- Previous experience working in camps.
- Good experience working with vulnerable children ( Child Labor cases)
