Purpose of the CWTL Research Study

Can’t Wait to Learn (CWTL) proposes new (cost-) effective solutions to the urgent challenges facing education for children in emergencies. By utilising innovative technological solutions with a focus on serious gaming, CWTL builds on concepts which have been successfully piloted in Sudan (e-Learning Sudan). CWTL has ambitions to increase the number of children with access to quality education in mathematics in areas affected by conflict in Africa and the Middle East, including in Jordan and Lebanon. The CWTL team, including its technical partners, will work together to digitise the Jordanian and Lebanese curriculum onto tablets, which will be used by children with guidance from a trained RA. Developing fresh, interactive materials based on the national curricula and creating effective partnership structures to distribute these, creates new opportunities for making education accessible to those children who have been excluded.

The BLN program has been specifically designed for use with out of school children (ages 10-14) in Lebanon. The program has been tailored by War Child to be equally applicable to refugee contexts, and for Lebanese children who find themselves outside of the formal education system. The overarching goal of this program is to provide at risk children with basic proficiency in the fields of literacy and numeracy. The BLN program is aligned with Lebanon’s educational standards. Due to the programs alignment with the Lebanese national curriculum, successful completion of this program should prepare learners to continue their studies in Lebanon’s formal education system. The content of this BLN program covers materials equivalent to grades 1-3 in the Lebanese national curriculum.

 

Main Tasks:

 

  • Develop Literacy curriculum for out of schoolchildren age (10-14) year old.
  • Develop Numeracy curriculum for out of schoolchildren age (10-14) year old.
  • The consultant will report to the Education Adviser at War Child Holland
  • The consultant will commit to deliver quality content in a timely manner; respond to feedback and committed to revise the work as needed.

                                                               

 

Knowledge and Experience

 

  • The consultant should have previous experience in curriculum development
  • Fluent in Arabic and English
  • More than 5 years of a mastery experience with active learning strategies to make learners active participants in learning.
  • Preferably a previous experience with refugee context
