Grant Management Specialist Programmes and Research

‘Result oriented, service minded with proven experience in fundraising with institutional donors and grant management’


Your challenge

As the Grant Management Specialist you are responsible for providing grant management advise  and support to Global, Regional and Country Management Teams and the Manager of Programme Partnerships and Grants. You are responsible for a range of institutional donor relations, facilitating proposal development and, monitoring the grant compliance and implementation of the War Child projects within your portfolio: Global Programmes & Research. This includes our programmes TeamUp and Can’t Wait to Learn. You provide pro-active support to ensure that grants are implemented as per donor contract and internal and external policies, regulations and standards, while strengthening the competencies of others in doing so. When applicable, you will also be responsible for management of Head Office lead grants.


Your profile

  • At least 3 years of field experience in humanitarian or development work;


  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in the area of fundraising with institutional donors and grant/account management;


  • Demonstrated experience on grant compliance for at least two of the following donors: Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Commission, ECHO, SIDA, DFID, USG (including USAID) and/or UN agencies. Additional experience with specific research focused donors and related grants/budget lines is desirable;


  • Knowledge of humanitarian settings, war affected emergency, post-emergency or developing countries;


  • Excellent writing skills in English and at least one of the following languages: French, Arabic, Spanish and/or Dutch;


  • Proven track record in design and writing of winning technical programs responding to grant solicitations in a limited amount of time;


  • Excellent relation building skills, diplomatic skills and you are strong in building and maintaining networks;


  • Excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail;


  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet deadlines;


  • Ability to deal effectively in various cultural and war affected contexts;


  • Result-oriented and determined;


  • University degree in international economics, management, development/international studies or related field;


  • Willing and able to travel at least once a year to each country in your portfolio (around 30%);


  • Available on short notice for 40 hours per week.
