Programme Financial Lead

Your Challenge
As Programme Financial Lead, you perform and monitor financial administrative activities to ensure timely and accurate processing in accordance with accounting rules and donor requirements. You make financial information and reports available so that stakeholders have timely access to qualitative financial management information for decision making. You implement and continuously improve policies and processes and monitor effectiveness of AO/IC. You give trainings and instructions so that procedures are known and enforced. You prepare and update long-term financial forecasts in collaboration with senior programme management and the organisation’s management team, so that the programme is optimally geared towards the future.
You report hierarchically to the director of Finance and Operations Support and functionally to the Programme Director – Can’t Wait to Learn.

* Ensure accurate, timely and comprehensive plans, budgets and forecasts
* Prepare internal and external reports, including reports to donors
* Oversee the financial bookkeeping of the programme
* Provide information to management for decision making purposes
* Ensure compliance with donor requirements by War Child as well as by its implementing partners
* Ensure appropriate filing of the relevant documentation and availability of specifications and justifications
* Diligently prepare for grant audits and perform controls
* Implement Administrative Organisation and Internal Control (AO/IC) processes and contribute to their improvement
* Provide training, advice, capacity building and support on financial matters and systems to Finance Officers and management of War Child and its implementing partners.

Your profile
* Academic degree in the relevant field (eg., Economics, Finance, Accounting or Control)
* Min. 5 years’ experience with financial administration and reporting (preferably an (international) NGO)
* Experience with compliance and grant management/audit
* Knowledge and understanding of internal control processes
* Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
* Skills for working in a multicultural environment
* Microsoft Excel has no secrets for you
* Fully support War Child’s mandate and mission
* Available for 32-40 hours per week
* EU resident or in possession of EU work permit.
