As Grant Management Specialist you are responsible for donor relations, fundraising, grant management and grant compliance within your portfolio at strategic, tactic and operational level.

Your challenge

As the Grant Management Specialist you are responsible for

* Providing grant management advice and support organisation wide, with a specific focus on research and innovation

* Relations with a range of institutional donors

* Facilitating proposal development

* Monitoring the grant compliance and implementation of the War Child projects within your portfolio: Global Programmes and Research

* Providing pro-active support to ensure that grants are implemented as per donor contract and internal and external policies, regulations and standards, while strengthening the competencies of others in doing so

* Management of Head Office lead grants (when applicable)

The Grant Management Specialist is part of the Programme Partnerships and Grants Department and reports to the department's Manager.

Your profile

* University degree in International Economics, Management, Development/International studies or related field

* At least 3 years of field experience in humanitarian or development work

* Minimum of 3 years work experience in fundraising with institutional donors and grant/account management

* Demonstrated experience on grant compliance for at least two of the following donors: Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Commission, ECHO, SIDA, DFID, USG (including USAID) and/or UN agencies

* Knowledge of humanitarian settings, war affected emergency, post-emergency or developing countries, and preferable humanitarian innovation

* Excellent writing skills in English and at least one of the following languages: French, Arabic, Spanish and/or Dutch

* Proven track record in design and writing of winning technical programs responding to grant solicitations in a limited amount of time

* Excellent relation building skills, diplomatic skills and you are strong in building and maintaining networks

* Excellent organisational skills and an eye for detail

* Result-oriented and determined, able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines

* Ability to deal effectively in various cultural and war affected contexts

* Willing and able to travel at least once a year to each country in your portfolio (around 30%)

* Available on short notice for 40 hours per week.
