As Programme and Grants Officer you actively work with War Child’s programme managers in the field and our Grant Management Specialist, to ensure we monitor and report adequately about our programmes to institutional donors. You also support in proposal and report writing; grant administration and relationship management with other NGOs and institutional donors.

Your challenge

  • Support the institutional funding and grant management related to War Child country programmes, with a focus on (but not limited to) the African country portfolio;
  • Co-develop, edit or review concept notes, proposals and reports to donors;
  • Ensure that donor requirements are known and followed by all stakeholders;
  • Support the field offices in maintaining a project and grant management system;
  • Conduct field visits to monitor grant activities and support capacity building sessions;
  • Support and prepare donor visits;

Build and maintain relationships with sister organisations, NGOs, knowledge institutes and donors.

Your profile

  • University degree in social sciences, international development studies or related fields;
  • At least 2 years of field experience in humanitarian or development work;
  • At least 2 years of experience in the area of institutional donors, relationship management and grant management, preferably with the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Commission, ECHO, USAID and/or UN agencies. Additional experience with other donors is desirable;
  • Knowledge of humanitarian settings, in particular in Africa or the Middle East;
  • Knowledge of issues related to Child Rights and at least one of the War Child thematic areas (Education, Child Protection, and Psychosocial Support) is an advantage;
  • Excellent English language skills (written and spoken), French and Dutch are a plus;
  • Good networking skills and diplomatic skills;
  • Excellent organisational skills and eye for detail;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Result-oriented and determination;
  • Willing and able to travel;
  • Available for 32-40 hours per week.
