War Child continuously seeks to strengthen its Grant Management capacity world-wide through improved policies and systems and strengthening the capacity of staff. Moreover, with an increase in the number and variance of institutional donors supporting the organisation, War Child would like to increase its knowledge of specific donors. To support this, we are looking for a Grant Compliance Specialist. The Grant Compliance Specialist is member of the Programme Partnerships and Grants (2PG) team. The 2PG team supports and strengthens the capacity of country teams in (strategic) planning and reporting, working in partnerships and to acquire and manage external financial resources to meet the organisations objectives. In addition to this, the 2PG team leads the development of a grant management framework that allows for appropriate and successful account and grant management of external funds at country, regional and head office level.

 

Your challenge

  • Development of a Grant Management (GM) Toolkit;
  • Roll out and implementation of the GM Toolkit;
  • Monitoring of compliance towards internal and external standards and regulations;
  • Review GM policy and develop of standards, tools, methods and systems as necessary;
  • Providing advice and support in regards to donor grant compliance;
  • Strengthen the capacity of War Child globally on GM and in specific in regards to donor compliance knowledge and expertise of War Childs main donors.

 

Your profile

  • At least 5 years field experience in humanitarian or development work;
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in the area of grant compliance with institutional donors;
  • Demonstrated donor expertise (donor contracts and related regulations and procedures), at least the EU and one other large donor (USAID, DFID, SIDA, UNICEF);
  • Experience in capacity strengthen and learning trajectories;
  • Knowledge and understanding of (institutional) donor networks;
  • Excellent writing skills in English and preferable Dutch, French and/or Spanish;
  • Excellent facilitation and organisational skills;
  • Good relation building and networking skills and diplomatic skills;
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel;
  • University degree in international law, management, development/international studies or related fields;
  • Available on short notice, 32-40 hours per week.
